A depiction of Samwise Gamgee's Barrow-Blade from the Lord of the Rings, re-interpreted in stained glass.

It is slightly larger than Sting (as shown in the last photo). The handle of the sword is a deep brown stained glass that has been handpainted in silver, gold and browns, and fired to an enamel finish. I have painted the hilt to mimic the leather wrapping of the handle as well as the silver and brass metal accents.

In the books, Samwise acquires his barrow blade (along with Merry, Pippin, and Frodo) after their flight into the Barrow-downs east of the Shire and the Old Forest. After their rescue by Tom Bombadil, each of the hobbits took Dúnedain knives from the barrow before continuing their journey to Bree. The barrow-blades, also known as the daggers of Westernesse, were originally wrought in Arthedain and used in the wars with Angmar.
