Inspired by the Roseate Emperor Moth, scientific name Eochroa trimenii, this hanging was cut from pale pink stained glass, then hand-painted and fired to an enamel finish. Care was taken to replicate the moth's wing patterns as faithfully as possible, including the veining and fuzzy texture of the wings.

The Roseate Emperor Moth inhabits arid rocky areas and mountain passes in Africa where its host plant grows.

Two discreet copper loops are attached to the top of the wings and then connected by a copper chain for hanging.

Each moth, like those in nature, is completely unique.
