Inspired by the Atlas Moth, scientific name Atticus Atlas, this hanging was cut from dark amber stained glass, then hand-painted and fired to an enamel finish. Care was taken to replicate the moth's wing patterns as faithfully as possible, including the veining and fuzzy texture of the wings.

The Atlas Moth inhabits the forests of Asia. Atlas moths are named after Atlas, the Titan of Greek mythology (due to their size).

Two discreet copper loops are attached to the top of the wings and then connected by a copper chain for hanging.

Each moth, like those in nature, is completely unique.
