Inspired by the Adonis Blue Butterfly, scientific name Lysandra bellargus, also known as Polyommatus bellargus, this hanging was cut from royal blue stained glass, then hand-painted and fired to an enamel finish. Care was taken to replicate the butterfly's wing patterns as faithfully as possible, including the veining and texture of the wings.

The Adonis Blue inhabits the Palearctic realm (Western Europe, Central Europe, South Europe, South Russia, Iraq, Iran, Caucasus, Transcaucasus, and Turkey).

Two discreet copper loops are attached to the top of the wings and then connected by a copper chain for hanging.

Each butterfly, like those in nature, is completely unique.
